Why Ablatherm HIFU

The Ablatherm® is used in 78 hospitals in 15 countries with numbers increasing weekly.

  1. More than 95% of the clinical literature published on HIFU is HIFU with Ablatherm®. It is the only HIFU system to have treated more than 8300 patients with a maximum follow-up of 10 years.
  2. The size of the HIFU lesion with Ablatherm® is adjustable (19 to 24 mm in length).
  3. The Ablatherm® imaging system uses a state-of-the-art, real-time B&K electronic array transducer with 7,5 MHz frequency.
  4. Ablatherm® has 3 alarm systems that will automatically stop the treatment if there is any danger of rectal wall damage (temperature / infra red patient movement detector / calculation of distance to rectal wall).

On other systems there is no alarm system automated to stop the treatment, the operator must watch the screen of the machine all the time to avoid danger.
  5. Ablatherm® features automated re-adjustment of transducer position with regards to the rectal wall.
  6. Patient Lateral position on the Ablatherm® avoids problems with air bubbles getting in the Ultrasound pathway.
  7. On the Ablatherm®, all 3 axis are fully motorised and automated.
  8. Treatment time for a 35 cc prostate is 2.5 hours with Ablatherm®.
  9. Ablatherm® features 3 different software packages with dedicated parameters for the SAFE treatment of: primary case / EBRT failure / HIFU re-treatment. Ablatherm® has published series of over 100 patients with local reoccurrence of Pca after radiation therapy.
